Corsham Concert

We agreed to meet for breakfast at 08.00        Richard is not one to get going early. Certainly not a crack of dawn man.  The comforts of the Compass Inn have been appreciated.  Comfortable rooms and no detailed instructions for the use of everything.  Staff were delightful. Reception  had even managed to provide some body lotion to put on my arms which had caught the sun on the ride from Glastonbury. Summer has arrived.   As usual the day began with the obligatory interview with a reporter over the telephone.    It is wonderful to hear how Richard is able to convert the pains of yesterday into the triumphs of today.  That is a quote there. Not only a brilliant guitarist and I mean that most sincerely folks but when he needs to he can also turn the old bs grinder on.     On departure I took the wrong turning  but very quickly discovered the error and about turn.     I don't think the boss noticed.  My entirely adequate route planning took us on a most wonderful morning cycle ride underlining all the reasons to get out of the car and on the bike.   Sadly the view was somewhat spoilt when our wandering minstrel insisted on taking his shirt off to take in the sun. Oh dear, oh dear. No encouragement from me could reverse this desicion to let it all hang out.    Good job I did not also decide to give the passers by sight of my six pack. More like a sack of spuds though , held in place by a rubber tyre, albeit slightly smaller after the recent riding. Engage discretion Sean.   I did.   The gentle ride brought us to the The Pound Arts Centre at Corsham.   The staff could not really believe that we had in fact come by bike. Cameras out. Cheese!      Into the concert space with the bikes and gear. Easy get in and set up way ahead of schedule. We had been contacted by Richard of Spindles and Sprockets via twitter offering a service on the bikes. How kind people can be. Check them out on www.spindlesandsprockets.co.uk    Richard came down and assessed the road weary machines and agreed to service them up on Saturday morning before our departure to Swindon. We set about bringing together video blog two. Great fun but requiring expert software dexterity from Durrant.  Smart arse.   Got them launched on You tube, Facebook etc.     Rehearsed for the evening show with the help of  Pound Centre technicians, Andrew and another Sean. They both  helped me solve a lead issue with my lights. Great tips too.  What do they say?  "A little knowledge....."    That's me folks!     Thanks to them the show could go on.  Mel, Jeff and Jane, our hosts from Yeovil, came over all the way to Corsham for the show, to listen to the  performance by the artsiste but primarily to sit  and watch, in awe, the light show and pimped up bikes presented by the Stage Manager.    Rave reviews followed.    Once again the crowd went home delighted.  Some cd sales. A very kind donation to the Big C charity.   People have been so generous.  Thank you.    Our bed for the night was  being provided by the Holland family at Lower Shaw Farm.  Bikes were left at Corsham Arts Centre for the night.   Warm welcome at the farm and a welcome dinner.   Great chats late into the night.  And so to bed.......eventually.
